About Prosper REI

Prosper REI, LLC is an Illinois limited liability company based out of Philo, Illinois. Its core focus lies in the development and acquisition of commercial residential and flex assets as value-add long-term buy and hold investments in the states of Indiana, Illinois, and Iowa. The Prosper REI Team collectively has $15M in assets under management and $7M in new development in progress in east central Illinois and eastern Iowa.

Nick & Kristen Gaines

Nick and Kristen are experienced real estate investors who have a passion for improving communities. They have 11 years of property investment experience and own 70 multi-family units totaling $4.4M in Central Illinois.

Nick graduated from the University of Illinois at Champaign-Urbana with a bachelor's in political science and holds a master's in education leadership. He brings considerable experience to Prosper REI in strategy, team leadership, community engagement, acquisitions, and project management.

Kristen graduated from the University of Missouri with a Bachelor of Science in Journalism. She has built a successful SaaS sales career focused on helping some of the world's largest corporations leverage software to transform processes, drive cost savings, and increase profitability. She contributes to the team's marketing and investor and community relations efforts.

Kristen and Nick reside in Philo, Illinois with their two sons.

Kristin Hagberg & Brian Shafer

Brian is the construction manager for Prosper REI, bringing over 20 years of expertise to the team. Brian and his partners recently completed the ground up development of a $2.8M flex facility in Iowa City and have started construction on the second phase, which will double the value of the asset.

Kristin is a graduate of Iowa State University where she pursued a degree in nursing. Her nursing career began at the University of Iowa Hospitals in the Neonatal Intensive Care Unit, where she continues to fulfill her passion.

Brian and Kristin joined Rod Khlief's coaching program in September 2019 and received one-on-one coaching, networking opportunities, and access to a wealth of resource and training specific to multifamily investing.

Brian and Kristin reside in Wapello, Iowa with their two sons and live in a beautiful house built by Brian himself.

Allan & Vanessa Lauenstein

A mutual enjoyment for analyzing systems, processes, and data enables Allan and Vanessa to heavily contribute to deal strategy at Prosper REI.

Allan graduated from Long Beach State University with a double major in business management and operations management. He is co-owner of Trifecta Painting and Construction, a multimillion-dollar construction company, where he currently leads the sales division.

Vanessa graduated from California State University, Northridge with a bachelor's degree in mathematics. She is the project manager for Prosper REI.

Allan and Vanessa reside in Los Angeles, California with their son.
